Gastronomy

XO Theme Gastronomy
The cuisine of South Africa is the result of an intermingling of vastly different cultures from Europe and India and native cuisines. South Africa’s gastronomy has a multi-cultural aspect that makes it unique and delicious. So what’s on the menu? Specialties include bobotie, boerewors, local fresh seafood and wild game. Some of the best meals in the Cape area are to be found at the wineries, many of which have their own excellent restaurants. Franschoek is regarded as the gastronomic capital of South Africa and its streets are lined with fine restaurants like Le Quartier Francais and Reubens. The town prides itself in winning the top restaurant awards almost every year!
South Africa’ wines are amongst the best in the world. It is down South in the Cape that the continent's finest wines are produced. Cabernet Sauvignon is the main red variety but the country is famous for its white wines such as Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Sauvignon.
XO Africa can tailor make for you an itinerary that will focus on Good food & Wine and that will include the best restaurants, wine tasting and cooking lessons.
